Dear NAWBO Members and Associates, Since 1983, our NAWBO-Denver chapter served local women business owners with a legacy of providing education and support. We are very proud of our accomplishments through the years. Hundreds of business women and men attended our educational programs and events. In conjunction with the SBA, we hosted the area’s first-ever conference for women business owners and held a follow-up conference. We partnered with many of the most successful businesses in the area. We recognized many fabulous women with a variety of honors. Most importantly, our members and associates formed long-lasting business relationships and friendships. Unfortunately, times change and our chapter experienced a dramatic decline in sponsorship, revenue and members. After reviewing the situation for many months, the board made the decision that unless drastic changes were made, we simply could not continue. This was not a decision we made lightly. On May 7, we held a special meeting so our membership could make the final decision. The members present at the meeting and voting by proxy voted unanimously to dissolve our local chapter. The effective date of this dissolution will be June 30, 2009. Your National NAWBO membership will continue as long as your dues are current and you will become an At-Large member. It was critical to us that we not leave our members without resources. To that end, we are pleased to announce that as of May 11, our active members will transition into the Colorado Women’s Chamber of Commerce. CWCC, now in its 21 st year, offers educational programming, leadership development, networking, leads groups, mentoring, a Young Professionals Group and monthly luncheons. In addition, CWCC will launch a new Business Owners Council to actively support our NAWBO members and CWCC business owners. Our Round Tables will continue, with CWCC providing the same level of support that NAWBO-Denver currently provides. To support the transition, CWCC will honor current NAWBO member’s membership until their renewal date and will provide special pricing for business level memberships the following year. For more information on CWCC, call 303-458-0220 or e-mail info@cwcc.org. On behalf of our board, I would like to thank all of you for your support of NAWBO. We are grateful for the assistance provided by our corporate sponsors throughout the years. I wish you much success with your business endeavors and look forward to continuing the business relationships formed throughout the years. Sincerely, President, Denver Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) Click here for the press release about the dissolution.
